Quantum Faith: Living With God On A Higher Plane

Today we are going to become Quantum physicists! Becoming a quantum physicist was my lifelong dream until very recently and if I am honest with myself I kind of still want to study quantum physics. I love this field of science because it deals with Space-Time or how speed and distance can actually affect time itself, Time Dilation, and subatomic particles. I’m literally smiling just thinking about them now and yes, I am a total geek or nerd when it comes to quantum physics! In quantum physics, there is a test called the slit test. It’s a simple test but somewhat difficult to explain so I’ll try to do my best to explain it without confusing you. I’ve placed a link to a YouTube video that explains the test much better than I can. The video uses a cartoon scientist in plain english to explain the slit test. Imagine you have a paintball gun with red paintballs and begin shooting them at a large white wall. You would imagine seeing paint all over every inch of that wall after an hour. Now imagine you placed a large sheet of metal in front of that wall that was equal in length, height, and depth so that it completely shields every inch of the wall from the paintballs. In this case, the paintballs you shot at the wall would be blocked by the sheet of metal. Now imagine you placed a thin slit or two in the sheet of metal directly at the center and shot paintballs at it. In this case, there would be two thin lines of paintball splatter on the wall directly behind the two slits. With paintballs or any other type of matter this would be true. If you fire at the metal only the two slits would allow matter through so on the rear wall all you would have is those two slit marks worth of matter. With organic subatomic particles, however, this isn’t necessarily true. When being observed certain organic subatomic particles behave similar to the paintballs, but when the experiment is done in the absence of observation the results are quite different. While the scientist are not observing the particles the patterns are all over the place.

This means that when the process is being watched the outcome is different than when the process is not being watched. When measuring the results or observing the results while the experiment is being carried out the markings are as predicted with the two slats on the rear wall, but when not being observed the results are all across the board. This means that simply by observing the process the outcome is different than when the process is not being observed. So if you had a machine that could fire the paintballs automatically while you were out of the room the pattern would be different than if you watched the machine fire the exact same paintballs in the exact same way with you watching in the room. When not being watched the particles are in all possible locations at the same time. This could be hundreds, thousands or even millions of locations at once! One particle, one piece of matter in several places at once. How is this so?

Similar to the subatomic particles represented by the paintballs, how is it that God can be God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all at once? How can God be in all places at once? How can God be in heaven, on earth and in us all at the same time? The answer to this question is the same way an organic subatomic particle such as benzene can be in more than one place at the same time. It is also the same way you can be a sinner who was destined for hell but covered by grace, redeemed and bound for heaven all at the same time. It is the same way that a son dying on a wooden cross forgave the world’s sins while simultaneously asking His father reigning in heaven for deliverance all at the same time. And it is the same way that God can sit with you in the filth of your sin while resting with you in the destiny of your future all in the same moment at the same time. The reason all of this is possible is because God is sovereign. The reason science has a hard time trying to explain God is similar to the reason why science has a hard time trying to explain these subatomic particles. It is because the particles are on a level similar to that of God and since God cannot be fully understood at this time neither can these subatomic particles be fully understood at this time. God is sovereign and things close to God are difficult to understand. We have to know that God sees the sins we’ve committed, the lies we’ve told, the mistakes we’ve made and in those moments loves us, forgives us and blesses us while covering us with His grace and mercy and all of this at the same time. God does not wait for us to become righteous instead he condemns our sinful behavior and forgives us for it at the same time all while declaring us to be righteous. Just as the disappearing-reappearing subatomic particles of benzene can be difficult to understand so can a God who demands honor yet forgives dishonor, be difficult to understand. But just like those organic subatomic particles exist in two or more states simultaneously so does God exist in two or more states simultanesously constanly judging your behavior and forgiving your behaviour simultaneously and God does it over and over and over again.
