Embracing Our City on Super Saturday: A Call to Serve with Love and Purpose

As the sun rises on Saturday, September 20, we have a unique chance to step outside our church and into the heart of our community. This day, known as Super Saturday, is more than just an event; it’s a movement of love, compassion, and outreach. It’s a day when we truly embody the teachings of Jesus by reaching out to those who need it most.

Super Saturday reminds us that we don’t wait for people to find us; we actively seek them out with open hearts, prayer, and practical love. It’s a day that keeps our hearts soft and our church focused on the needs of our city, reminding everyone that God sees them, knows their names, and hasn’t given up on them.

Let’s explore what makes this day special and how you can be part of it.

The Heart of Super Saturday

Super Saturday is a commitment to living out our faith in real ways. We gather at Mary’s Snack Café from 9:00 to 10:00 AM for a light breakfast, a brief word, and prayer. This time together is essential as it sets the tone for the day. We’ll share the plan, pair up for service, and prepare our hearts for the work ahead.

After breakfast, we’ll head to Church Under the Bridge at 10:30 AM to meet our homeless neighbors. This is where impactful moments happen. We’ll worship together, read Scripture, listen to stories, and pray. This personal connection helps remind our neighbors that they are not forgotten.

Serving with Dignity

An essential part of Super Saturday is the way we serve. We want to minister with dignity, so everyone is encouraged to bring their own chair. Sitting at eye level is crucial for engaging in meaningful conversations and building genuine relationships.

From 12:00 to 2:00 PM, we’ll fire up the grill to serve hot dogs and food, fostering ongoing conversations. It’s not just about nourishing the body; it’s about nourishing the soul. We are praying for real gospel conversations and open doors for healing, hope, and clear next steps—whether that’s salvation, interest in baptism, recovery help, or even assistance with finding a job.

A Day for Everyone

For those who have never participated in Super Saturday, this is a wonderful time to start. Whether you can sing, pray, smile, carry a cooler, pass out water, or just listen, your presence is important. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes, bringing a chair, a water bottle, and if possible, extra supplies like hot dogs, buns, chips, bottled water, or small hygiene kits (toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes, deodorant, and socks).

Families are welcome! This is a great opportunity for children to witness love in action in their community. We’ll serve in pairs, ensuring everyone feels supported, and finish by 2:00 PM, allowing ample time for reflection and gratitude.

The Power of Prayer

As we prepare for Super Saturday, we invite you to join us in prayer. We’re asking the Lord for salvations, healing, and divine appointments. Each meal represents more than just a number—it symbolizes a name and a story that God is redeeming.

Imagine the impact we can make as a united community. Each conversation, each prayer, and each kind act could lead to life-changing moments for those we encounter.

Why Super Saturday Matters

Super Saturday is vital to our mission as a church. It grounds us in our faith and sharpens our focus on community needs. In a world often marked by disconnection, this event serves to remind us of our calling to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Stepping out of our comfort zones to engage with others not only helps those in need but also strengthens our own faith. We learn to see the world through Jesus's eyes, love unconditionally, and extend grace to those who may feel unworthy.

How You Can Get Involved

If you would like to join us for Super Saturday, please let us know when you’ll be there. Your participation is essential, and we want everyone to feel welcomed and valued. If you can’t attend, please pray for us—pray for salvations, healing, and divine appointments.

Consider dropping off supplies or contributing financially to support this outreach. Every little bit helps, and your generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.

A Personal Invitation

As Super Saturday approaches, I extend a personal invitation to you. This is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity to be part of something larger than ourselves. Together, we can express our faith in ways that impact our community and reflect the love of Jesus.

Whether you’ve been a member of our church for years or are new and curious about what we do, we welcome you with open arms. Come and see how love in action can transform lives—both yours and those of the people we will serve.
