Growth is happening: Expanse gets a parking lot

A Parking Lot Miracle: God Made a Way for Expanse

For the past five years, one of the greatest challenges for Expanse Bible Church has been parking. Week after week, we have prayed, adjusted, sacrificed, and trusted God through the struggle of not having a parking lot of our own. What may seem small to some has been a very real obstacle for our ministry, our members, and every visitor who desired to worship with us.

But through every challenge, God remained faithful.

Today, we are grateful and excited to share that God has opened a new door for Expanse Bible Church. Our neighbors, Coram Deo Fellowship, have graciously agreed to share their parking lot with us. This blessing is more than extra parking spaces — it is a reminder that God provides exactly what we need, often through the kindness and partnership of others.

This moment represents growth, favor, and the power of community. It shows us that even after years of waiting, God is still working behind the scenes on our behalf.

With this blessing also comes responsibility. As we step into this new season, we are committed to being good stewards of what has been entrusted to us. That means helping maintain the parking lot, keeping it clean, caring for the property, and making sure it is secured and locked properly. We believe stewardship matters, and we want to honor both God and the generosity of Coram Deo Fellowship through how we care for this shared space.

We are incredibly thankful for every prayer, every member, every volunteer, and every person who stood with Expanse during the difficult seasons. This is another testimony that when God opens a door, no struggle is wasted.

God is good, and Expanse is continuing to grow.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1

At Expanse Bible Church, we are in a powerful season of growth, vision, and expansion. God is opening doors for more people to be reached, more families to be served, and more lives to be transformed through His love. As we continue moving forward, we are also taking intentional steps to care for and strengthen the place where ministry happens.

One of our current needs is roof repairs and church expansion—ensuring that our building remains safe, secure, and ready for all that God is calling us to do next.

Why This Matters

Our church is more than a building—it is a place of worship, healing, teaching, and community. Every service, every prayer, every outreach moment happens under this roof. Taking care of it allows us to continue creating a welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

At the same time, expansion means we are preparing for growth. More room means more people can experience:

  • The presence of God in worship

  • Life-changing teaching and ministry

  • Community connection and fellowship

  • Outreach and impact in our city

A Heart of Faith & Partnership

We believe this is not just a project—it is a Kingdom assignment. As Proverbs 16:3 reminds us:

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” -Proverbs 16:3

We are trusting God and inviting our church family and community to partner with us in faith. Every gift, every donation, and every act of support makes a difference in helping us move forward.

How You Can Help

Whether large or small, your contribution helps us:

  • Repair and protect our current church building

  • Expand space for future ministry and growth

  • Continue serving families and individuals in our community

  • Strengthen the foundation for what God is building here

Thank You for Your Support

We are deeply grateful for everyone who continues to stand with Expanse Bible Church. Your generosity is not just giving—it is sowing into lives, futures, and generations to come.

Together, we are building more than a structure—we are building a place for God’s presence, purpose, and people.

A New Word for a New Season: Northeast Side of San Antonio

There are moments in ministry when God begins to stir something new—quietly at first, then with increasing clarity. As we continue to seek the Lord and stay sensitive to His leading at Expanse Bible Church, we are prayerfully considering what may be a new direction and assignment for this house.

Recently, there has been a growing sense of a word and direction pointing toward the northeast side of San Antonio—a burden for the people, the neighborhoods, and the spiritual needs in that area. We are approaching this not with haste, but with humility, prayer, and discernment.

We recognize that whenever God begins to expand vision, it is never just about location—it is about people, purpose, and timing.

At this stage, we are not rushing ahead or making assumptions. Instead, we are doing what every wise ministry must do:seeking God, covering everything in prayer, and listening closely for confirmation.

If this is truly the direction God is leading us, then we trust that He will make it clear through peace, counsel, alignment, and open doors that cannot be denied.

As a church family, we are committed to:

  • Praying before we move

  • Listening before we act

  • Unity before expansion

  • Obedience before opportunity

Because we understand that growth without God’s direction is just movement—but growth with God’s direction is assignment.

For now, we remain anchored in what God is already doing among us, while remaining open to what He may be preparing ahead of us. If there is a new work on the NE side of San Antonio, we want it to be birthed in prayer, covered in wisdom, and led fully by the Holy Spirit.

We are expectant, we are listening, and we are staying faithful in the current season—trusting that God will establish every step in His perfect timing.

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.” — Psalm 37:5

Sunday Service Reflection: A Life worth living

This past Sunday at Expanse Bible Church, our Pastor delivered a powerful and convicting word centered around Matthew 4:17–20 and Matthew 16:13–20—a call to real discipleship, bold faith, and immediate obedience to Jesus Christ.

A Call to Immediate Obedience

From the very beginning of the message, the emphasis was clear: there is no such thing as being a “weekend Christian” or a part-time follower of Jesus. Discipleship requires full surrender—every day, every hour, every decision.

Jesus’ invitation to the disciples in Matthew 4 was immediate:

“At once they left their nets and followed Him.”

The message reminded us that we cannot toy with sin or delay obedience. Following Jesus requires action, not hesitation. There are moments when God calls us to step out of old patterns, old habits, and old ways of thinking—immediately.

Be Fishers of People

In Matthew 16, Jesus shifts Peter’s identity and purpose, showing that following Him means becoming “fishers of people.” The teaching highlighted how a lack of prayer often leads to spiritual drift, and how lack of prayer can open the door to gossip, distraction, and compromise.

The challenge was simple but powerful: step out of the boat and live by faith.

A Life Changed by Obedience

One of the most impactful moments of the message was a real-life example shared by our pastor. He reflected on his own journey and how God completely transformed the direction of his life and work.

He shared how, after a challenge from a young Christian, he made the difficult decision to walk away from producing and working with music that did not honor God. He transitioned his company into a private music studio focused only on children’s music and Christian music. That decision required sacrifice. Nearly 90% of his income was gone. Yet, he chose obedience over comfort, trusting God fully with the outcome. Over time, God remained faithful—his doors never closed, and even provision came in unexpected ways, including his rent being covered when needed.

The testimony made one thing clear: when we choose obedience, God proves faithful.

A Life Worth Following

Our pastor’s story was not just inspirational—it was a living example of transformation, courage, and conviction. It reminded us that true leadership is not just spoken, it is lived.

He has walked through many seasons, overcome many challenges, and grown into a man of deep wisdom, discipline, and faith. Many in the church see him not only as a pastor, but as a mentor and spiritual father figure whose life continues to point others toward Christ.

The Call for Us Today

This message challenged everyone to examine their own walk with God:

  • Are we following Jesus fully or partially?

  • Are we obeying at once or delaying obedience?

  • Are we living boldly or blending in quietly?

  • Are we praying enough to stay aligned with God’s heart?

The call was clear: step out in faith, leave behind sin, and follow Jesus with urgency and devotion.

Because when we do, God is not only faithful—He transforms our entire life.

Guarding the Unity of Our Family

As we are almost at the end of the month of May, we are taking time to reflect on everything God has been doing within Expanse Bible Church. This season has been filled with exciting events, preparation, growth, and vision for what is ahead.

Alongside all that is happening, our Book of the Month, The Bait of Satan, has been challenging us in a powerful way to guard our hearts and protect the unity God is building among us.

Offense can feel small at first, but over time it can quietly shape our attitudes, relationships, leadership, and spiritual focus. As we have been reading together this month, we are intentionally choosing:

  • Forgiveness over bitterness

  • Humility over pride

  • Freedom over the traps that try to pull us away from Christ

This “heart work” is essential as we move toward our September Church Anniversary and our Baton Rouge Mission Trip. Healthy growth requires healthy hearts, and unity is something we must continue to protect together as a church family.

This month’s reading has helped remind us where God has brought us from while also preparing us for where He is taking us next. We are moving forward together with clean hearts, wise leadership, renewed faith, and a deeper commitment to one another and to the vision God has given our church.

As we close out the month of May, we encourage everyone to continue leaning in, staying connected, and finishing strong with us.
